Interest in Real-Time Video Systems and AI-Based Technologies
On October 11, Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province announced that on the 3rd, mayors from three cities in Peru visited the Gwangyang City CCTV Control Center to benchmark its smart city safety management system.
The delegation, consisting of around 10 members including the mayors of Santa Rosa in Lima, Chalhuahuacho in Apur?mac, and Paucar del Sara Sara in Ayacucho, had the opportunity to directly observe the integrated control system for citizen safety and examples of advanced ICT technology applications.

The delegation showed great interest in the real-time video integration system, disaster and crime prevention monitoring framework, and AI-based abnormal behavior detection technology at the Gwangyang City CCTV Control Center. They also received a detailed explanation of the 24-hour shift system operated by control personnel and the collaborative system with related agencies such as the police and fire departments.
Song Myungjong, Director of Safety, stated, "Gwangyang City has made citizen safety its top priority and has established a smart integrated control system throughout the city. I hope this visit by the Peruvian mayors will serve as an opportunity to showcase Gwangyang City's outstanding urban management capabilities and lay the groundwork for future cooperation with overseas cities."
Meanwhile, the Gwangyang City CCTV Control Center is responsible for citizen safety through 24/7 real-time monitoring year-round, including crime prevention and disaster response. Recently, the center has been advancing its smart safety city initiatives by introducing AI video analysis and intelligent control systems.
