Pledis Entertainment announced on October 10 that Seventeen's special unit S.Coups and Mingyu's first mini album, "HYPE VIBES," has received a Gold Disc "Gold" certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
This album recorded shipments of over 100,000 copies on the day of its release in Japan on September 30. The Recording Industry Association of Japan certifies albums each month based on cumulative shipment volumes, with Gold (100,000 copies), Platinum (250,000 copies), and Double Platinum (500,000 copies) distinctions.
Following certifications for 18 group albums, Seventeen has also consecutively received certifications for unit activities, including Jeonghan and Wonwoo’s single album "THIS MAN" and the recent "HYPE VIBES."
Immediately after its release, "HYPE VIBES" topped major charts such as Japan’s Oricon Daily Album Ranking, Weekly Album Ranking, and Billboard Japan’s Top Album Sales. In its first week of release (September 29 to October 5), it sold 887,000 copies, setting a new record for the highest first-week sales by a K-pop unit album.
The title track "5, 4, 3" also reached No. 1 on the download charts during the same period and topped the Circle Chart Weekly Album Chart (September 28 to October 4).
On the previous day, S.Coups and Mingyu released a live clip of the track "For you" through Seventeen’s official YouTube channel. The video, set against the backdrop of Jeju Island, captures the natural chemistry and emotional vocals of the two members, delivering the message that "anyone can become our friend." Upon release, the song entered Melon’s Top 100 and the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart.
