Siheung Smart Hub is a national industrial complex with around 8,000 companies, mainly in the chemical, dyeing, and plating industries.

The city explained that, as the areas affected by odors have expanded recently to include nearby residential zones such as Baegot New Town and Siwha MTV, it is focusing on improving odor management through regular and ad-hoc inspections.

This special inspection will target approximately 140 companies that have newly moved in since last year. The city plans to carry out inspections based on preliminary survey data and, if any suspicious cases are found, will conduct additional on-site investigations to take necessary actions.

In particular, if any unreported facilities are identified, the city will immediately file charges in accordance with the Odor Prevention Act and ensure thorough management within the legal framework, including the installation of prevention facilities.

Yang Soonpil, Director of the Environment Bureau of Siheung City, stated, "We will do our utmost to maintain a pleasant living environment for nearby residents through strict management of odor emission facilities."
