90% Subsidy for Industrial Accident Insurance Premiums
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor: Shin Sangjin) will be accepting applications for the second half of the year for its industrial accident insurance premium support project, targeting labor providers, artists, and other vulnerable worker groups, from October 13 to October 24.

For these occupations, previously referred to as "special type workers," industrial accident insurance premiums are split equally between the worker and the business owner, unlike ordinary employees. With industrial accident insurance now mandatory for workplace injury compensation, Seongnam City is providing its own financial support for these vulnerable groups to reduce their economic burden.
Eligible applicants include: labor providers (in 14 specified occupations) and artists who are registered residents of Seongnam City, as well as small business owners with fewer than 10 employees based in Seongnam City who have exclusive contracts or similar agreements with these workers. Within the monthly support limit set for each occupation, 90% of the worker’s share of the industrial accident insurance premium will be subsidized. This application period covers premiums charged from April to September 2025 (up to six months), and retroactive support for periods outside this range is not available.
The 14 eligible occupations for labor providers are: insurance planners, construction machine operators, visiting instructors, golf course caddies, delivery drivers, loan solicitors, credit card membership recruiters, door-to-door salespersons, rental product inspectors, home appliance installers and repairers, software engineers, after-school instructors, tourism interpreters, and children’s school bus drivers. However, delivery workers, substitute drivers, and freight truck owners are not eligible for support from Seongnam City, but can receive an 80% subsidy for their share of the premium through the "Platform Worker Industrial Accident Insurance Premium Support Project" operated by the Gyeonggi Job Foundation.
Applications can be submitted via email or fax, as well as in person at the Employment Division on the 7th floor of Seongnam City Hall, or by registered mail. Detailed information, including application forms and required documents, can be found in the "News" or "Notices" sections of the Seongnam City Hall website.
A Seongnam City official stated, "Our city is strengthening the social safety net to ensure that vulnerable workers receive real compensation if they are injured on the job. In addition to supporting industrial accident insurance premiums, we are expanding protection through various programs such as paid sick leave benefits and tetanus vaccination support. We hope many people will apply and take advantage of these benefits."
