The tournament was held at Deokjin Sports Park and Wansan Sports Park in Jeonju on September 27 and 28. In the final, the Mapo-gu Women’s Soccer Team defeated the Seoul Gangdong Women’s Soccer Team 3-0 to secure the championship.

The Mapo-gu Women’s Soccer Team stumbled in their opening group-stage match, losing to the Gwangju Women’s Soccer Team 2-2 in a penalty shootout. However, they bounced back with three consecutive victories, advancing to the final. Their solid performance and teamwork in the final match led them to the top.

Founded in 2000, the Mapo-gu Women’s Soccer Team finished as runners-up in the same tournament last year and placed third in the 2024 Seoul Citizens’ Soccer League, consistently achieving top rankings. With this victory, they have now established themselves as the strongest women’s soccer team in the country.

Mapo-gu has continuously supported the expansion of women’s soccer and the development of local sports culture. This achievement is being recognized as the result of those ongoing efforts.

Park Kangsoo, Mayor of Mapo-gu, stated, “I deeply appreciate the dedication of the players who have balanced their careers and committed themselves to soccer. This victory is a valuable result achieved through the players’ devotion and hard work, and the women’s soccer team’s success will serve as a great example for women in the community.” Mayor Park emphasized, “Mapo-gu will continue to actively support all aspects of community sports, including women’s soccer, so that all residents can enjoy healthy lives through sports.”
