Gyeonggi Province to Provide Up to 300,000 KRW for Language and Certification Exam Fees

Gyeonggi Province will provide up to 300,000 KRW to support language and certification exam fees for unemployed youth.

On October 10, Gyeonggi Province announced that applications for the "Gyeonggi Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support Project" will be accepted starting from October 13. The project covers exam fees for a total of 1,004 types of tests, including 19 language exams, the Korean history exam, 540 types of national technical qualifications, 347 types of national professional qualifications, and 97 types of nationally certified private qualifications.

The support covers exam fees for tests taken between December of last year and November of this year. Eligible applicants are unemployed youth who reside in Gyeonggi Province and fall within the youth age range defined by city and county ordinances.

Regardless of employment status at the time of application, applicants are eligible if they were not employed on the date of the exam. Those who were employed for less than one year in short-term positions are also considered unemployed and can apply.

Applications can be submitted through the Gyeonggi Job Foundation's integrated application system "Jobaba Apply" (apply.jobaba.net). This year's project will be implemented in 30 cities and counties, excluding Seongnam City.

Launched in 2023 as a pledge project of the 8th popularly elected administration, the "Gyeonggi Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support" project has been met with enthusiastic response from young people, with most local governments exhausting their budgets early this year. Reflecting the high demand, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Provincial Council plan to increase the budget by 1.5 billion KRW in the second supplementary budget for 2025, providing support for an additional 7,500 youth.

Kim Sunhwa, Director of the Youth Opportunity Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "With the additional budget, more young people will be able to benefit from exam fee support. We will actively support youth so they can realize their unlimited potential by including a wide range of exams such as AICE, big data analysis engineer, and data analysis in the list of eligible tests."
