"Activists Have Never Created a Brand"
Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul, criticized the livelihood recovery consumption coupon implemented by the Lee Jaemyung administration and the ruling party, stating, "What should be placed on the shoulders of young people is not coupons, but competitiveness."
On October 9, Mayor Oh expressed through his social media, "These days, young people say they feel fear at the dizzying changes in the world." He argued that the government and ruling party, without understanding the anxieties of the youth, have disguised a one-time cash handout as a 'livelihood recovery consumption coupon,' pouring 13 trillion won from the national budget into it.
Mayor Oh stated, "The burden of soaring debt falls squarely on the shoulders of the youth. That is why young people say, 'An economy led by coupons is even more frightening than income-led growth.' As a politician and an administrative leader, I cannot turn a blind eye to the fear young people feel."
He also remarked that the activist faction has never created any brand and has always taken the same stance at every moment of change. If their logic had prevailed, Seoul would have become a 'stagnant city,' not the 'city of K-Pop Demon Hunters.' Mayor Oh emphasized, "If a nation continues to borrow and distribute cash, future generations will never be able to surpass the prosperity of previous generations. Calling this shameless or even an act of plundering future generations is no exaggeration."
