Minister Choi Hwiyoung Inspects Gyeongbokgung Palace and National Folk Museum of Korea On Site

Choi Hwiyoung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, visited Gyeongbokgung Palace and the National Folk Museum of Korea on the morning of the 9th to inspect their operations and meet with visitors to hear feedback on site.


The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism explained that Minister Choi reviewed the tourism readiness of major cultural facilities, such as palaces and museums, where the number of visitors has surged due to the long Chuseok holiday and the K-content boom.

Minister Choi began his visit at Gwanghwamun, then toured Heungnyemun Gate, Geunjeongjeon Hall, and Gyeonghoeru Pavilion, checking on facility safety, service programs, and multilingual information systems. He then visited the National Folk Museum of Korea, where he viewed permanent exhibitions such as "Koreans Today," "A Year of Koreans," and "The Life of Koreans," all themed around Korean folk life and culture, as well as outdoor exhibitions. He also listened to the impressions of both domestic and international visitors experiencing Korean folk culture.


Minister Choi stated, "Inside the four main gates of Seoul, and especially at Gyeongbokgung Palace, it is important to highlight unique characteristics through inter-institutional collaboration and specialized programs, given the concentration of cultural facilities in the area." He added, "The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will focus its policy efforts to ensure that the enthusiasm for Korean culture continues."
