Held Under the Theme: "Sharing Mathematics, Growing Together"
A venue will be provided where students can nurture their interest and curiosity in mathematics and experience the joy of growing together through hands-on mathematical activities.
The Daejeon Mathematics Culture Center, affiliated with the Daejeon Education Information Institute, will host the "2025 Daejeon Mathematics Festival" at Exhibition Hall 2 of the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) from October 18 to 19.
Celebrating its 17th year, the theme of this year’s Daejeon Mathematics Festival is "Sharing Mathematics, Growing Together." The festival aims to go beyond mathematics as an individual learning pursuit, providing a vibrant space where everyone can experience the joy of collective growth through cooperative communication and enjoyable mathematics experiences with others.
The 2025 Daejeon Mathematics Festival will open at 10 a.m. on October 18, featuring a variety of mathematics experience programs. These include 60 mathematics inquiry experience booths operated by elementary, middle, and high school students, one preview booth for the mathematics experience exhibition, 18 mathematics teaching aid experience booths run by related organizations and universities, two mathematics escape room booths, and three mathematics playground booths.
Additionally, the festival will offer a wide range of engaging experiences and attractions, such as public mathematics lectures, Math-Talk presentations, and collaborative stage performances.
In particular, this year the festival has expanded its operating space from two halls to three to provide a more comfortable and safer environment for visitors. A rest zone has also been set up for accompanying families to wait comfortably.
Halls 1 and 2 will mainly host the mathematics experience booths, while Hall 3 will feature the opening ceremony, public mathematics lectures, Math-Talk presentations, and collaborative stage performances.
At 10 a.m. on October 19, Professor Kim Jaekyung from KAIST will give a public mathematics lecture titled "Mathematics: The Language That Deciphers Life!" More detailed information about the festival can be found on the Daejeon Mathematics Culture Center website.
Lee Youngjoo, Director of the Daejeon Education Information Institute, stated, "Through the 2025 Daejeon Mathematics Festival, I hope visitors will become more familiar with mathematics by seeing and touching its principles firsthand. I also hope it will be a meaningful time for students to nurture their interest and curiosity in mathematics, unleash their boundless imagination and creativity, and take another step forward in their growth."
