Support for Participation in BIO Japan and Nordic Life Science Days

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on October 7 that bio venture companies supported by the ministry will participate in 'BIO Japan 2025' held in Yokohama, Japan, as well as 'Nordic Life Science Days' taking place in Gothenburg, Sweden.

BIO Japan, which opens on October 8, is the largest bio event in Asia, with more than 1,000 companies from 34 countries participating and over 22,000 collaborations taking place. Following last year, the ministry will once again operate the integrated 'K-Startup@Bio Pavilion' at BIO Japan, in collaboration with the National Institute of Toxicological Research, Chungbuk Technopark, and Gyeongbuk Technopark, featuring 30 domestic bio venture companies. In addition, this year, an IR event and conference will also be held, with the participation of Japanese and global venture capitalists and pharmaceutical companies.

Nordic Life Science Days, which will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden on October 13, is the largest biotechnology event in Northern Europe, attracting more than 1,500 participants. The event is particularly strong in the field of advanced regenerative medicine. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Chungbuk Center for Creative Economy & Innovation will select and support 10 venture companies to participate. During the event, the ministry plans to provide close on-site support to companies, including visits to Sweden's bio innovation ecosystem.

Park Yongsoon, Director General for Technology Innovation Policy, stated, "Korean bio ventures, especially those focusing on Japan, are increasingly achieving results in global expansion. We expect that as support for international joint R&D and other initiatives expands, these achievements will accelerate even further." He added, "Building on these successes, we will diversify cooperation channels to Europe and beyond, and spare no effort to help our companies seek new opportunities."
