Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, fiercely criticized the Lee Jae-myung administration's response following the fire at the National Information Resources Service (NIRS). He pointed out that, despite an unprecedented administrative paralysis and a related civil servant taking his own life, the administration proceeded with filming a variety show and attempted to conceal this fact until the time of filming, only for the truth to eventually come out.

On October 6, Kim Ki-hyun posted a message on his social networking service (SNS) titled, "The Presidential Office and the Democratic Party Should Prosecute Me Too." He began by saying, "Although 'If I do it, it's romance; if others do it, it's an affair' and 'the pot calling the kettle black' are trademarks of President Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party, their recent actions remind me of the old saying, 'The one who dealt it gets angry.'"

He continued, "An unprecedented national disaster occurred when the national information network was paralyzed by a fire, and a civil servant, tormented by a sense of responsibility, took his own life. Yet, the President-who is both responsible for the disaster and the control tower for recovery-was laughing and joking while recording a variety show, and reportedly even ordered the broadcast to go ahead. Is this really sane behavior?"

He also mentioned that the presidential spokesperson denied and lied about the issue raised by an opposition lawmaker, only for the truth to be revealed in the end. Kim Ki-hyun said, "Isn't it time to at least honestly admit the mistake, dismiss the spokesperson, and make some gesture of apology to the public? Instead, they are busy threatening to prosecute the opposition lawmaker who pointed out the problem. The actions of a government built on lies and hypocrisy are utterly laughable."

He concluded, "The Presidential Office, which is an expert at silencing criticism, should prosecute me as well. And have the 'police dogs' arrest me just like former Chairwoman Lee Jin-sook."
