A data breach has reportedly occurred on "119Gosi," a firefighter recruitment website, resulting in the leakage of subscriber personal information.
According to Yonhap News Agency on October 4, the National Fire Agency discovered the data breach on "119Gosi" at around 7 p.m. on October 2 and notified affected site members of the incident. Approximately 50,093 individuals are believed to have had their personal information compromised in this incident. The leaked data includes user IDs, names, dates of birth, mobile phone numbers, and email addresses of candidates who registered on the site up until October 3 of last year.
Immediately after recognizing the incident, the National Fire Agency shut down the "119Gosi" website and, together with relevant authorities, launched a joint investigation into the circumstances of the breach, focusing on the site’s management contractor. The agency also reported the incident to the Personal Information Protection Commission.
The National Fire Agency suspects that the site was hacked. To prevent recurrence, it plans to use the Ministry of Personnel Management’s integrated recruitment system for future hiring processes.
