Chairman Jin Youngseung's First On-Site Inspection Since Inauguration
The Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that on October 3, the first day of the Chuseok holiday, Chairman Jin Youngseung and General Xavier Brunson, Commander of United States Forces Korea and Combined Forces Command, jointly visited GP and GOP units in the western front-line area to inspect military readiness based on the ROK-US alliance.

This visit marked Chairman Jin's first on-site inspection since his inauguration and the first joint command activity by the ROK-US leadership. Chairman Jin and General Brunson directly reviewed the operational environment, key facilities, and equipment, and checked the current operational posture. Chairman Jin instructed, "You must carry out vigilant guard operations with the mission of defending the nation and its people, and maintain unwavering combat determination and a reflexive operational posture to respond resolutely under the ROK-US combined defense system in the event of enemy provocations." He also emphasized the importance of the military's core mission, stating, "When you serve as a strong shield at the forefront of national security and do your utmost in your respective positions, you will earn the trust of the people."
General Brunson congratulated Chairman Jin on his inauguration and stressed that the ROK-US alliance is the greatest asymmetric advantage on the Korean Peninsula. He further stated that the alliance’s combined capabilities deter threats, uphold the Armistice Agreement, and firmly secure peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula. Chairman Jin and General Brunson reaffirmed that the military must support peace on the Korean Peninsula with strong power and that the most important task is to maintain the capabilities and posture to respond to any threat based on the ROK-US alliance. Both sides agreed that the alliance’s combined capabilities form the foundation for deterring provocations, safeguarding the Armistice Agreement, and ensuring stability and peace on the Korean Peninsula.
