1,738 Athletes to Compete in 49 Events
Held Across Busan from October 17 to 23

On October 2, Jeollanam-do held a send-off ceremony for the Jeollanam-do delegation at the Wangin Room of the provincial government office, pledging their determination for outstanding performance ahead of the 106th National Sports Festival.
With just fifteen days remaining until the opening of the National Sports Festival, the ceremony was attended by over 250 people, including Kim Youngrok, governor of Jeollanam-do; Kim Taegyun, chairman of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Council; Song Jin-ho, president of the Jeollanam-do Sports Council; Kim Daejung, superintendent of Jeollanam-do Office of Education; sports officials; and the athletic delegation.
The ceremony began with a video expressing the resolve of the provincial athletes, followed by a report on participation plans for the National Sports Festival, opening remarks, presentation of the team flag, words of encouragement, an oath by the athletes' representative, and a donation ceremony for sports promotion funds.
In his address, Governor Kim Youngrok stated, "You are the pride of Jeollanam-do and the hope of our residents. I hope you maintain your best condition and deliver outstanding performances in the remaining period. All residents will be cheering you on."
Gwangju Bank, NH Nonghyup Bank, the Jeollanam-do branch of the Korea Construction Association, and the Jeollanam-do branch of the Korea Specialty Contractors Association encouraged the athletes by delivering sports promotion funds.
The 106th National Sports Festival will be held across Busan Metropolitan City from October 17 to 23 for seven days. The Jeollanam-do delegation will participate in 49 events, with a total of 1,738 members (1,187 athletes and 551 officials).
Star athletes from Jeollanam-do, including Paris Olympics medalist Nam Suhyeon (archery, Suncheon City Hall), Jeong Naeun (badminton, Hwasun County Office), Im Aeji (boxing, Hwasun County Office), triple jump national record holder Kim Jangwoo (Jangheung County Office), modern pentathlon national team member Seo Changwan (Jeollanam-do Government Office), and dance sport national team members Kim Minsu and Kim Nayeon, as well as Lim Jinsu and Lim Sebin (Suncheon City Dance Sport Federation), will compete for medals at the National Sports Festival.
