Basic Competency Training for 132 Successful Grade 9 Public Official Candidates to Adapt to Public Service Life
Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on October 2 that it held the '2025 New Hire Onboarding Training for Local Government Grade 9 Public Officials' at the Goyang Talent Education Center for 132 successful candidates of the 2025 local government grade 9 open competitive examination, conducting the training twice (September 22-24 and September 29-October 1).

The 'Onboarding Training' is designed to help the 2025 open recruitment successful candidates (new hire nominees) quickly adapt as members of the organization before their official appointment. The program aims to foster public service values, enhance communication skills, and help participants acquire the basic administrative competencies required for public service life.
The main training topics include: ▲A communication session with the mayor of Goyang Special City (direction of the 8th popularly elected administration, sharing the aspirations and thoughts of new hires) ▲A special lecture by senior public officials on adapting to public service life (overall public service experience, personnel system, and welfare system for public officials) ▲A tour of Goyang Special City's cultural heritage ▲Integrity training ▲Official document writing ▲Presenting one's vision for work in Goyang City ▲Training on becoming a new public official that colleagues want to work with, and more.
During the communication session with the new hire nominees, Mayor Lee Donghwan stated, "A public official is someone who has a deep and broad impact on all aspects of citizens' lives," and added, "We will spare no effort to support the new hire nominees who will lead the future of Goyang Special City so that they can grow into capable public officials."

Meanwhile, the city plans to operate a systematic workplace training program tailored to each stage of growth by conducting 'Onboarding Training' and, at the six-month mark after appointment, a second round of training called 'Wellboarding Training' (including public service values reminders and resilience enhancement) to reassess new hires' organizational adaptation and improve their work engagement.
