The National Local Government Job Awards is the most prestigious regional job award ceremony, organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, which comprehensively evaluates job policies and job creation achievements of local governments across the country. All 243 local governments nationwide participate in this event.
The city received high marks for planning job creation projects focused on four key areas: ▲ regional industry growth, ▲ strengthening governance, ▲ youth-focused support, and ▲ customized support for different social groups.
In particular, the city was highly praised for its ▲ sector-specific startup support services to strengthen the self-sufficiency of early-stage entrepreneurs, ▲ "Goyang Customized Senior Job Market Project," which generates income for seniors, ▲ "Goyang Customized Job School," a tailor-made employment training program in collaboration with hiring companies, and ▲ efforts to improve job quality in various sectors that contributed to establishing the "Goyang-style" work culture.
Despite the local employment crisis, the city achieved record-high overall employment rates, as well as the highest employment rates for women and middle-aged workers. Last year, it created 46,075 jobs, exceeding its target of 43,736 jobs by 2,339 (achieving 105.3% of its goal).
Mayor Donghwan Lee stated, "This award is a recognition of the results of our job policies to date, and it will greatly support our efforts to pursue sustainable job policies in the future." He added, "Building on last year's achievements, we will continue to develop and implement policies that even more citizens can experience firsthand."
