Full-Scale Cooperation for Project Success with Nine Institutions
Development Plans Discussed with Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority
Ansan City in Gyeonggi Province has officially launched a cooperative framework for the successful development of the Ansan Science Valley (ASV), which was recently designated as a Gyeonggi Economic Free Zone.
On October 1, Ansan City announced that it had held the 'Ansan Science Valley (ASV) Institution Heads Council' meeting at Hanyang University ERICA Campus, with the participation of nine related organizations, to discuss plans for cooperation.

This council is composed of nine institutions located in Sadong, Sangnok-gu, and Gojan-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan: Gyeonggi Technopark, Hanyang University ERICA, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH), Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL), Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI), LG Innotek Ansan R&D Campus, Korea Rural Community Corporation Rural Research Institute, Korea University Ansan Hospital, and the Training Institute for Small and Medium Business Ventures.
At the council, which is held regularly every year, discussions focus on securing future competitiveness in the city’s industrial sector through regional industrial innovation, the discovery of joint cooperation projects, revitalization of information exchange, and the establishment of an organic network.
At this meeting, which was held for the second time this year, participants discussed ways to support corporate innovation in connection with ASV, which has been designated as an economic free zone, as well as the upcoming implementation schedule.
Lee Mingeun, mayor of Ansan, stated, "ASV is a core competency and growth engine for Ansan City," and requested, "I ask each institution to take an active role so that it can firmly establish itself as a hub for sustainable regional innovation."
On the same day, the city also held an on-site briefing session for the 'Gyeonggi Economic Free Zone Ansan Science Valley District (ASV)' at the ASV area and city hall. The briefing was attended by Mayor Lee, Kim Neungsik, Commissioner of the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority, and other related officials.
During the meeting, which was held alongside an on-site inspection, participating institutions reached a consensus on the need for the rapid development of ASV and discussed measures for inter-institutional cooperation to attract promising companies and international schools.
Commissioner Kim stated, "The Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority will also join forces with Ansan City to do its utmost to attract companies and promote rapid development."
Mayor Lee added, "Through research and development specialization centered on future industries, we will present a model example of the Gyeonggi Economic Free Zone that represents the Seoul metropolitan area."
