"Closed Only on Chuseok Day"
Unified Policy Applied to 37 Facilities
Expanded Access to Support a Comfortable Holiday for Residents
Gumi City will operate 47 out of its 49 major public sports and cultural facilities as usual during the seven-day Chuseok holiday, with only two facilities remaining closed. Of these, 39 facilities will close only on the day of Chuseok itself and will be open for the rest of the holiday, standardizing the operating policy across the city.
During the previous Lunar New Year holiday, among the total 49 facilities, 19 closed for one day or less, while 30 closed for two days or more, resulting in inconsistent operations. Starting with this Chuseok, the city has implemented the principle of "closed only on the holiday itself."
As a result, the number of facilities closing for one day or less has increased to 39, more than double compared to the previous Lunar New Year, while those closing for two days or more have decreased to 10, about one-third of the previous figure.
The city plans to provide administrative services to ensure that both residents and visitors returning home can comfortably enjoy the long holiday within the city, by expanding facility access and applying a unified operating principle.

Park Chunghee Gymnasium and Gumi Park Golf Course will be fully open throughout the Chuseok holiday. Gumi Park Golf Course, the largest in North Gyeongsang Province and attracting an average of 5,000 visitors on weekends, saw approximately 2,580 users during the three days of the last Lunar New Year holiday. During Chuseok, all nine courses, totaling 288 holes, will be fully open, and both local and outside visitors will be able to use the facilities by making reservations.
Nine sports facilities, including Geumo Tennis Court, Gumi Equestrian Center, and Dongrak Park Archery Range, will operate throughout the holiday except for Chuseok day itself.
For the highly popular swimming pools, only Deulseong and Gangdong Sports Centers were open during the last Lunar New Year holiday. However, during this Chuseok holiday, all five swimming pools (Deulseong, Gangdong, Dobong Sports Center, Workers' Welfare Center, and Seonsan Youth Center) will be open to better accommodate visitors' needs.
Natural recreation and leisure facilities, which see high demand from families, will be open throughout the holiday period. At Okseong Natural Recreation Forest, the most popular family destination, all accommodation facilities were fully booked early for the period from October 3 to 9, with about 90% of reservations made by visitors from outside the city, cementing its status as a leading holiday destination that attracts non-local guests even during the Chuseok holiday.
Three accommodation facilities, including Geumo Mountain Campground and Gumi Camping Ground, as well as ten cultural facilities such as Nakdong River Sports Park, Silla Buddhist Site, and Gumi Neo-Confucianism History Museum, will remain open throughout the Chuseok holiday.
Fifteen facilities popular among children, including Eco Land, the Carbon Zero Education Center, two science centers, and six libraries, will operate as usual except on Chuseok day itself. However, the public bowling alley will be closed for three days during the holiday to protect the business rights of private operators.
Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi, stated, "We have decided to open public facilities so that all citizens and visitors returning home can spend their leisure time without inconvenience during the Chuseok holiday," adding, "We will keep city hall operating 24 hours a day and do our utmost to ensure safety so everyone can enjoy a happy holiday."
