On October 1, Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province held the "2025 Gumi Local Food Festa" at Seoul Plaza as a direct marketplace where producers of agricultural and specialty products from Gumi met consumers from the Seoul metropolitan area. The event served as a bridgehead to expand the consumption base of Gumi's agricultural products into the metropolitan region.

This year's festival, themed "Meet Gumi, Taste 9 Flavors," featured an agricultural products sales booth, a G-Food booth, and a Korean beef tasting and sales booth, showcasing over 50 varieties of agricultural and specialty products.

Signature items representing Gumi, such as Gumi Korean beef, rice, Gumi flour, melons, and grapes, attracted consumers with tasting events and discount sales. Notably, the flagship ready-to-eat product, tteokbokki, was discounted by up to 43%, and Gumi Korean beef by up to 33%, receiving an enthusiastic response.

At the city’s promotional booth, special exhibitions on tourism and the ramen festival, as well as a booth promoting the Hometown Love Donation Program, highlighted Gumi’s appeal. On-site programs such as surprise auctions, busking performances, and recreational activities added to the enjoyment of visitors.

During the opening ceremony, various agreements were signed to promote the development of Gumi’s agriculture.

Gumi City entered into a regional coexistence agreement with Baemin to expand the consumption of Gumi agricultural products and revitalize the local economy.

Additionally, the city signed a purchase agreement for Gumi rice with Jangbogo Food Mart and for Gumi flour with Le Pain, securing stable outlets for local agricultural products.

Finally, Gumi City and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) signed a financial business agreement to promote the distribution and export of agricultural food products, ensuring a stable supply chain for Gumi’s agricultural goods and agreeing to cooperate on developing domestic and overseas markets as well as joint marketing efforts.

Based on the success of this festival, the city plans to further expand its sales networks in the metropolitan area.

Furthermore, Gumi City will continue to develop various win-win cooperation models to increase farmers’ incomes and promote the distribution of agricultural food products, while strengthening the foundation for stable market access.

Gumi Mayor Kim Jangho stated, "The Gumi Local Food Festa is more than just a sales event; it is a platform for mutual growth between farmers and consumers. We will continue to create new market opportunities to increase farm incomes and strive to expand Gumi’s agricultural products into the metropolitan area, nationwide, and even globally."
