According to the county on October 1, this system has been established to minimize gaps in veterinary care that may occur during the holiday due to major livestock diseases such as dystocia and acute ruminal tympany, and to prevent economic losses for livestock farmers.
The county plans to designate one of four local animal hospitals as the duty veterinary hospital each day for six days, excluding the day of Chuseok, from October 3 to 9. The designated hospital will operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. However, during the holiday period, veterinary fees will be set at 150% of the regular weekday rate.
Given that livestock farming is a key foundation of the local economy, the county expects that establishing an emergency veterinary care system during periods prone to service gaps, such as holidays, will greatly contribute to the stability of local farms.
In particular, this new system is expected to create an environment where livestock farmers can spend the holidays with peace of mind, while also ensuring a safer and healthier supply of livestock products for county residents.
County Governor Choi Hunsik stated, "We will minimize damage to livestock farmers by establishing a system that can respond promptly to livestock diseases during the Chuseok holiday," and urged, "We also ask farmers to pay special attention to livestock management during the holiday period."
Meanwhile, as this system is being implemented for the first time, the county plans to actively inform farmers through notification messages and village leader bulletins to prevent any confusion.
