One-Stop Support from Startup to Commercialization
33.8 Billion Won Invested for a Six-Story Facility
Jinju City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on October 1 that it has held a groundbreaking ceremony for the "Green Bio Venture Campus Development Project" at the Jinju Bio Industry Promotion Agency located in Munsan-eup, Jinju, officially launching efforts to establish a core hub that will lead the future of agriculture.
Over 200 people attended the groundbreaking ceremony, including Jo Gyu-il, Mayor of Jinju; Baek Seunghung, Chairman of the Jinju City Council; Lee Jeonggon, Director General of Agriculture for South Gyeongsang Province; as well as provincial and city council members, heads of academia-industry-research organizations, and representatives from bio companies, all sharing in the significance of the event.
The "Green Bio Venture Campus Development Project" is a key agricultural policy initiative for Jinju City, selected as part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' public contest in 2023, with a total project budget of 33.8 billion won. The campus will be built on a site of 35,197 square meters, with a total floor area of 5,728 square meters, spanning six above-ground floors, and is scheduled for completion in April 2027.

The campus will feature office spaces for resident companies, meeting rooms, research and laboratory facilities, and manufacturing facilities, establishing a "one-stop" support system that covers everything from startup incubation to research and development and commercialization. Through this, Jinju City aims to become a core hub for cultivating the green bio industry ecosystem and fostering specialized talent.
In addition, Jinju City plans to designate a "Green Bio Industry Promotion Zone" in conjunction with the venture campus, aiming to cluster companies and strengthen the industrial network. The city also intends to link this with the "Natural Materials Full-Cycle Standardization Hub Project" to lead the high value-added industrialization of agricultural and bio resources.
Notably, these projects go beyond simply constructing industrial facilities; they are expected to advance the cultivation base of local agriculture and increase farm household income. By expanding the cultivation of functional and specialized crops and providing stable procurement, processing, and distribution support, farmers will become key players in the industrialization process, creating a virtuous cycle where agriculture, businesses, and research institutions grow together.
Jo Gyu-il, Mayor of Jinju, stated, "Today's groundbreaking marks a historic first step for Jinju to become a central city for the future of agriculture. By linking the venture campus, promotion zone, and natural materials hub, we will revitalize the agricultural sector, increase farm income, and further develop Jinju into Korea's leading green bio hub city."
