On September 29 (local time), tech YouTuber Daniel Rotter, who has 1.63 million subscribers, posted on his social networking service X (formerly Twitter), "The Samsung Galaxy Ring battery has started to swell," adding, "It's even happening while it's on my finger."
He appealed, "I was just about to board a plane, but I can't remove it and it hurts a lot." He then tagged the X accounts operated by Samsung Electronics' UK and US branches, requesting, "Please propose a solution quickly."

As of the morning of September 30, the post had surpassed 7.3 million views, and Rotter additionally released a photo showing his finger turning red due to the swollen battery.
About two hours later, Rotter said, "I was denied boarding the plane because of this issue," adding, "I was eventually taken to the hospital in an emergency and had the ring removed." Another photo showed the Samsung logo engraved inside the Galaxy Ring distorted due to the battery swelling. He added, "I will never wear a smart ring again."

However, IT media outlets pointed out that it is difficult to conclude that this case indicates a general defect in the Galaxy Ring product. PhoneArena stated, "We don't think this incident signals a bigger problem with the Galaxy Ring battery," but added, "It's a good reminder that people need to take care of their device batteries."
SamMobile also noted, "It's important to recognize that the Galaxy Ring has been on the market for some time and this is not a widespread phenomenon," but pointed out, "Even a single incident like this is a reminder of how a smart ring can get you into trouble."
