You Can Now Take Kakao Taxi in Guam... Real-Time Hailing Service Launched

Real-Time Taxi Hailing Service Now Available, Following Reservation Option

Kakao Mobility announced on September 30 that it is now possible to call a taxi in real time through Kakao T even in Guam. Foreign tourists can use the same service through Kakao Mobility's global mobility platform exclusively for foreigners, the k.ride app.

With the launch of this service, Kakao T users can call a taxi in Guam by selecting the overseas travel menu in the "Travel" tab within the app, while k.ride users can call a Guam taxi immediately upon launching the app.

The Guam taxi service provided through Kakao T and k.ride operates on a fixed fare system, allowing users to check the fare in advance. Vehicles can accommodate up to six passengers, and accident insurance is included to cover local medical expenses in case of an accident. The service also supports "automatic message translation" for real-time translation between drivers and passengers, and "safe message" for sharing real-time location and estimated arrival time.

The Guam taxi pre-booking service can be requested not only from Guam but also from anywhere overseas. For airport pickup taxis, entering your flight information ensures that a taxi driver will be waiting for you at the arrival time of your flight.

Since 2022, Kakao Mobility has been providing taxi reservation and airport pickup reservation services in Guam through Kakao T by partnering with the island's largest taxi brand, Miki Taxi Service. The launch of real-time taxi hailing has been made possible by Kakao Mobility's release of a global taxi driver app specifically for Guam.

Currently, Kakao T and k.ride offer local vehicle hailing services in approximately 38 countries worldwide, including Korea, Guam, the United States, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Kakao Mobility plans to build supply-side infrastructure in other countries with limited mobility infrastructure, similar to Guam, in the future.

An Kyujin, Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer of Kakao Mobility, said, "It is significant that we are providing real-time taxi hailing by directly applying our proven technology and operational expertise from Korea to local supply infrastructure overseas." He added, "We hope that both domestic and international travelers visiting Guam during the upcoming Chuseok holiday will enjoy convenient and safe transportation through our taxi hailing and reservation services."
