Sales of Samsung Electronics' energy efficiency grade 1 home appliances have increased significantly.
According to the home appliance industry on September 30, after Samsung Electronics participated in the government's "Top Efficiency Home Appliance Rebate Program" (hereinafter referred to as the Top Efficiency Program), sales of energy efficiency grade 1 home appliances increased by approximately 20% year-on-year over the past two months. The Top Efficiency Program is overseen by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and managed by the Korea Energy Agency. Under this program, consumers who purchase energy efficiency grade 1 home appliances are eligible for a rebate of 10% of the purchase price, up to a maximum of 300,000 won per person.

Samsung Electronics has introduced energy efficiency grade 1 home appliances equipped with innovative artificial intelligence (AI) features that help reduce energy consumption, while also strengthening customer guidance and purchase benefits related to the Top Efficiency Program. It is analyzed that various benefits, including a government rebate of up to 300,000 won, up to 10% membership points provided by Samsung Electronics, and the tangible effect of reducing electricity bills through the purchase of high-efficiency appliances, have driven consumer demand.
In particular, the "three flagship AI appliances"-air conditioners, washing machines, and refrigerators-are receiving enthusiastic responses from consumers who prioritize lowering electricity bills, thanks to their innovative AI features that significantly improve energy efficiency in addition to enhancing basic performance. Sales of high-efficiency air conditioners and washing machines have surged by more than 20% compared to the previous year, while refrigerator sales have also risen by over 15%.
Buoyed by this popularity, energy efficiency grade 1 home appliances accounted for about 40% of Samsung Electronics' total home appliance sales during the two-month period of July and August. Kim Yonghoon, Executive Director of Samsung Electronics Korea, stated, "Among energy efficiency grade 1 products, the 'three flagship AI appliances' that offer both high energy efficiency and AI features have been especially popular with consumers and have driven sales," adding, "We hope customers will take advantage of various benefits to experience Samsung Electronics' high-efficiency home appliances."
