1,963 Athletes Compete Across Five Courses
Toward Becoming the "Chamonix of Korea" and an International Mountain Tourism City
The "6th Jangsu Trail Race," held over four days from September 25 to 28 in Jangsu County, North Jeolla Province, concluded successfully.

According to the county on September 29, a total of 1,963 athletes participated in five courses: 100M (112 participants), 100K (134 participants), 38K-P (680 participants), 38K-J (635 participants), and 20K (402 participants).
The winners for each course were as follows: 100M - Jo Gyehun (30 hours 25 minutes 23 seconds) and Lee Haneul (38 hours 12 minutes 49 seconds); 100K - Lim Junghyun (15 hours 08 minutes 16 seconds) and Kim Yeonun (19 hours 14 minutes 20 seconds); 38K-P - Shim Jaedeok (4 hours 31 minutes 01 second) and Yoon Hyunjung (5 hours 31 minutes 01 second); 38K-J - Lee Hyungmo (4 hours 33 minutes 27 seconds) and Lee Hyunju (5 hours 57 minutes 44 seconds); 20K - Lee Gyuuho (2 hours 24 minutes 58 seconds) and Shin Gihae (2 hours 37 minutes 44 seconds), each taking the top spot in the men’s and women’s divisions.
Notably, the newly introduced 100-mile course (170.8 km) started at Jangsu Sports Complex and passed through Palgongsan, Bonghwasan, the western peak of Jangsu Deogyusan, Chimryeongsanseong, and Jangansan, making it the longest trail in Korea. A total of 112 athletes participated, with 43 successfully completing the course.
This achievement marks the first-ever completion of a 100-mile course in the history of Korean trail racing, making it especially significant. At the event, 21 brands, including the title sponsor The North Face, operated booths, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Additionally, at the promotional event supported by Jeonbuk Technopark and CAMTIC Institute of Technology, a variety of agricultural, traditional, and health foods featuring Jangsu’s signature red foods-apples, omija, and tomatoes-were showcased, widely promoting the excellence of the region’s agricultural products.
Part of the participation fee (10,000 won) was refunded as Jangsu Love Gift Certificates, which could be used at local restaurants, cafes, and convenience stores, thereby contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.
County Governor Choi Hunsik said, "I feel great pride in successfully hosting the 100-mile course, which no other local government has attempted," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the foundation of the Jangsu Trail Race so that Jangsu County can become the ‘Chamonix of Korea’ and an international mountain tourism city, renowned as a mecca for mountain leisure."
