AI Features to Be Enhanced by Year-End, Including Real-Time Translation
"We Aim to Provide the Best Possible Work Environment"
On September 29, Kakao subsidiary DK Techin announced that its collaboration tool "Kakao Work" has undergone major updates, including the addition of artificial intelligence (AI) features, integration with external services, and enhanced security.
Kakao Work is an integrated groupware collaboration tool that combines management support systems, calendars, video conferencing, and messenger programs used within companies. Featuring a design that maintains the familiar usability of KakaoTalk, a variety of work support solutions tailored for Korean office workers, and a robust security system to prevent information leaks, Kakao Work has seen its user base grow by an average of 54% annually since its launch in 2020, establishing itself as a leading enterprise software solution in South Korea.
The main updates to Kakao Work include: AI-powered text search within images, integration with external services via Incoming Webhook, and enhanced internal information protection. These updates were developed in direct response to user feedback, further improving both work efficiency and security.
The AI-powered text search within images automatically extracts text and related keywords from images attached in messenger chats. This allows users to search for images using relevant keywords not only within the chat where the file was uploaded but also through the messenger's integrated search feature.
The Incoming Webhook feature, which enables integration with external services, significantly expands Kakao Work's unified management capabilities. Users can control a range of external services such as Google Calendar, Notion, corporate card notifications, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and attendance management systems-all directly from Kakao Work.
Security features have also been strengthened. Kakao Work has introduced watermarks that can identify users on its internal bulletin board (Workboard), and added controls for file attachment extensions, focusing on preventing internal information leaks in advance.
DK Techin plans to use this update as a starting point to add advanced AI features by the end of the year, such as real-time translation and message summarization, which will provide immediate support for practical work tasks.
Kang Hyunjin, Executive Director at DK Techin, stated, "Kakao Work, which can be utilized in various work environments, now provides an optimal work environment with enhanced convenience and information protection systems," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our powerful AI-driven work features and security levels so that customers can enjoy the best possible work environment, regardless of their working conditions."
Meanwhile, Kakao Work is providing customer satisfaction with customized services for a wide range of industries, including Hyundai Heavy Industries, GC Green Cross, and SM Entertainment. With a variety of feature options and pricing plans tailored to each client's needs, the platform can be configured to suit companies of all sizes and types, from startups to large enterprises.
