Two-Day 'Livelihood Tour' Ahead of Chuseok... Mayor Park Hyungjoon of Busan Engages On-Site to Restore Economic Vitality

Inspection of Seamless Welfare Services During Chuseok Holiday
Pursuing Economic Revitalization and Communication with Citizens at Key Livelihood Sites

Busan City has visited key sites related to citizens' livelihoods ahead of the Chuseok holiday, listening to residents' concerns and seeking ways to revitalize the local economy.

On September 29 and 30, Mayor Park Hyungjoon will visit a series of locations, including social welfare facilities, traditional markets, local export companies, and new factory investment sites.

For his first stop, Mayor Park visited the Gamman Comprehensive Social Welfare Center to encourage social welfare workers who provide food and alternative meals to vulnerable groups during the long holiday period. A total of 88 social welfare facilities in Busan plan to prevent a 'holiday meal gap' by offering lunch boxes and meal kits, checking in on residents, and distributing gifts.

He will then inspect the prices of essential goods at Jagalchi Market and participate in a promotional campaign to boost the use of Dongbaekjeon, Busan's local currency. In the second half of the year, the city aims to stimulate consumption by increasing Dongbaekjeon cashback benefits to up to 13 percent, with the goal of boosting small business sales and revitalizing domestic demand.

On September 30, he will visit Daebong Machinery in Gangseo-gu to hear firsthand about the challenges faced by export companies. Daebong Machinery is a leading local automation equipment manufacturer that received the 7 million dollar Export Tower award last year. The city is implementing its 'Emergency Export Measures 2.0,' which includes 100 billion won in emergency operating funds for companies affected by customs issues, support for export insurance and guarantee fees, and assistance for diversifying export markets.

On the same day, he will also visit the Nongshim Noksan Plant. Nongshim is investing 220 billion won to build an export-only factory capable of producing 500 million packs of ramen noodles annually. Once completed next year, the new plant is expected to create 150 new jobs and establish Busan as a key export hub for K-ramen.

Mayor Park emphasized, "We will ensure seamless welfare services and revitalize local businesses so that citizens can enjoy a prosperous holiday. Ahead of Chuseok, we will provide policy funds to companies facing liquidity shortages and do our utmost to create jobs and restore economic vitality."
