Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Koo Yoonchul convened an emergency response meeting at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance on the 27th in response to the fire incident at the National Information Resources Service, instructing an all-out response.

After returning to Korea from a five-day, three-night trip to the United States, Deputy Prime Minister Koo immediately presided over a meeting of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance Central Disaster Response Headquarters, where he inspected the damage to the ministry’s website and the fiscal information system.

The meeting, held in the evening at the Korea Fiscal Information Service in Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by more than 20 people, including Second Vice Minister Lim Kigeun.

Currently, access to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance’s website is restricted. The receipt of national treasury funds through the Digital Budget and Accounting System is also not being processed. However, the National Tax Service, Korea Customs Service, Korean Intellectual Property Office, National Police Agency, and Ministry of Justice have been instructed to handle related work through their own systems. The Ministry of Strategy and Finance explained that these five agencies account for 84% of national treasury receipts.

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance and the Korea Fiscal Information Service plan to inspect and restart the entire system as soon as the communication equipment infrastructure at the National Information Resources Service is restored. They are also considering operating a separate disaster recovery system as a contingency measure.

Deputy Prime Minister Koo stated, "We will take all possible scenarios into account to ensure the stable operation of the fiscal information system and will do our utmost to achieve a swift recovery."
