On September 27, Seoul Eastern District Prosecutor Lim Eunjeong commented on the passage of the amendment to the Government Organization Act, which includes the abolition of the prosecution office, stating, "The era in which the prosecution clung to powers it could not handle and pretended to be the leading force in society must come to an end."
On her Facebook page that day, Prosecutor Lim wrote, "The era of the prosecution will eventually come to an end, and our society will move forward once again. That is the history we have witnessed so far."
Prosecutor Lim added, "I sincerely hoped that the prosecution, as it willingly relinquishes powers it cannot handle and steps down from its place, would not look too disgraceful in its final moments, even if it is not as majestic as a sunset. But I am well aware that this is unlikely." She continued, "When powers exceed the capacity of the institution, it is inevitable that they will overflow. If there had been wisdom to recognize shame and face reality, things would not have come to this. As a member of the prosecution, I am disheartened, but I will face the sunset with composure and prepare for tomorrow."
