This campaign was carried out as part of the nationwide “Korea Makeover Campaign,” which local governments across the country are joining ahead of the Chuseok holiday and the APEC Summit.

Ulleung County aimed to provide a pleasant and clean environment for tourists and returning residents visiting during the Chuseok holiday period. The campaign is also expected to significantly enhance Ulleung County’s image as a clean destination.

The county designated the period from this day until October 1 as a “focused cleaning week,” during which towns and villages will conduct environmental cleanups around villages, rivers, roads, and other aspects of daily life. Alongside these efforts, the county is also running campaigns and guidance to prevent illegal dumping, fostering a community-wide atmosphere of voluntary participation in environmental cleanups.

County Governor Nam Hankwon stated, “We organized this large-scale cleanup event to provide a pleasant urban environment for residents and returning visitors,” adding, “We will continue to carry out environmental cleanup activities together with our residents to make Ulleung County a better place to live.”
