"Supporting Changwon Companies"... Changwon Special City Discusses Strategic Cooperation with the Federation of Korean Associations in the USA

Exploring Ways to Promote International Exchanges
and Support Overseas Expansion of Local Companies

On the afternoon of the 25th, Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province welcomed Seo Jeongil, the 30th President of the Federation of Korean Associations in the USA, along with its executive members at the city hall reception room. During the meeting, they discussed ways to promote international exchanges and economic and cultural cooperation between Changwon and local governments across the United States.

The Federation of Korean Associations in the USA (hereafter referred to as the Federation), established in Washington, D.C. in 1977, is an organization that currently encompasses 165 Korean associations throughout the United States. It carries out various activities to enhance the rights and interests of approximately 2 million Koreans and to strengthen ties with their home country.


On this day, Park Jinyeol, Director General of Economic and Job Affairs, met with the Federation on behalf of Changwon Special City, as Acting Mayor Jang Geumyong was unable to attend due to obligations with central government and national disaster safety training. Director Park stated, "In a situation where international relations are strained due to protectionism, the visit from the Federation is highly meaningful," and requested, "Please serve as a bridge connecting Changwon and local governments in the United States."


He further requested, "As Changwon companies are facing difficulties due to the high tariff policies in the United States, please leverage the Federation's network to help ensure that Changwon's outstanding industrial capabilities are recognized in the U.S. market."


The visiting delegation toured LG Electronics and Doosan Enerbility to observe their advanced technologies and manufacturing competitiveness, and engaged in in-depth discussions on potential future cooperation.


President Seo Jeongil commented, "Changwon companies possess ample potential in the global market," and added, "The Federation will actively utilize its network with local governments and the Korean community in the United States to support Changwon companies entering the U.S. market."


Director Park Jinyeol stated, "I hope this meeting will become a new turning point for city diplomacy and economic cooperation, going beyond simple exchanges," and continued, "We will concentrate our administrative efforts and provide practical support to diversify export markets for Changwon companies by further strengthening our network with the Korean community."
