Future Entrepreneurs Gather Here... 11th Busan Startup Idea Competition Finale

336 Teams and 1,042 Students from Universities and High Schools Nationwide Participate
10 Teams Selected for the Finals

"Ddakmaja Mokjae" Wins Busan Mayor’s Award

Busan City held a competition to discover youth startup ideas and selected the final winning teams.


The city announced that the finals of the "11th Busan Startup Idea Competition" were held at 2 p.m. on September 23 at Exhibition Hall 1 of BEXCO. This event was hosted by the city and jointly organized by the Busan Institute of Technology Startup Investment, Kyungsung University, Tongmyong University, Dongseo University, Dong-A University, Dong-Eui University, Pusan National University, and Korea Maritime and Ocean University, with sponsorship from the Korea Student Aid Foundation.


This year, 336 teams comprising 1,042 university (including graduate) and high school students from across the country participated. The city selected 10 teams for the finals through a document screening, idea advancement education, and preliminary evaluations. These teams then received practical training, including presentation material revision and presentation coaching, before competing in the finals.


The finals were evaluated based on problem recognition, competitiveness, feasibility, and expected impact, with five judges conducting Q&A sessions and in-depth reviews. The total prize money amounted to 61.5 million won.


The top honor, the Busan Metropolitan City Mayor’s Award, went to the "Ddakmaja Mokjae" team from Seoul National University. This team received high marks for its modular woodworking solution for interior design companies. The prize money was 15 million won.


Seven teams were selected for the University President’s Award: "X10LAB" from Ajou University, "PetLepathy" from Seoul National University, "Ieum Company" from Kookmin University, "CargoLink" from Inhang High School, "Kilexep" from Korea Digital Media High School, "SinkSight" from Dongseo University, and "MIZIDAY" from Ewha Womans University.


The Director’s Award from the Busan Institute of Technology Startup Investment went to the "xEV Parts Solution" team from Dong-A University, while the Chairman’s Award from the Korea Student Aid Foundation was awarded to the "Hydroflux" team from Pusan National University.


Jinsu Lee, Financial Startup Policy Officer of Busan City, stated, “Discovering promising prospective entrepreneurs is just as important as scaling up startups. We will actively support students’ challenges so that Busan can establish itself as a cradle of innovative startups.”
