The "2025 Sangju World Hat Festival," hosted by Sangju City and organized by the Sangju Festival Promotion Committee and the Korea Hanbok Promotion Institute, will be held for three days from September 26 to 28 at the Taepyeongseongdae Gyeongsang Provincial Government Office Park and its surrounding areas.
Now in its third year, this festival is held under the slogan "A Fun World with Hats (FUN FUN HAT!)" and presents unique cultural content that combines Sangju’s traditional culture, tourism resources, and city brand.
A variety of attractions have been prepared, including the World Hat Exhibition Hall, a special MLB Hat Exhibition, large-scale hat sculptures, the selection of the "Hat of the Year," and a Hat Dance Competition. To encourage visitor participation, hands-on events such as the "Modori Game," "Hat Olympics," and "Stamp Tour" will also take place.
This year, in particular, the "Modori Challenge HAT" and the street parade will be expanded to a national scale, and a new Premium Local Products Hall will be introduced to promote the competitiveness of local agricultural products and specialties.
On the evening of September 25, a hat parade will take place in downtown Sangju, connecting Sangju Girls’ Middle School, Seomun Intersection, and Fashion Street. Civic groups, university students, and foreign participants will march in unique hats and outfits, followed by a downtown party featuring artists such as YB and Park Seojin.
The opening ceremony stage on September 26 will feature a themed performance centered on hats, along with a spectacular display of 800 drones, a laser show, and fireworks. The excitement of the festival will be further heightened by performances from invited singers including Kim Yongbin, Cheon Rokdam, Oh Yujin, and Bang Jooyeon.
Kang Youngseok, Mayor of Sangju, stated, "This year’s Sangju World Hat Festival will be even more colorful and moving," adding, "With creative content centered on hats, we aim to lead the globalization of K-culture and make this an opportunity for Sangju to emerge as a global cultural city."
During the festival, Sangju City will operate a free shuttle bus connecting downtown and the festival venue. Detailed information can be found on the official website and the Festival Promotion Committee’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, etc.).
