Promoting the Value of Dokdo Through Culture
The fan meeting and video screening event for the TV animation "Gangchi Island," co-produced by Gyeongsangbuk-do, the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation Content Promotion Agency (Director Lee Jongsu, hereafter referred to as the Agency), and Pixel Planet Co., Ltd., will be held on September 30 at the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Multipurpose Hall.
This event is being organized ahead of the KBS 2TV broadcast scheduled for early November and will provide an opportunity for fan club members and the production team to come together and share the meaning of the work. Director Chu Gwangho, who directed the series, will also participate in person to discuss the message of "Gangchi Island" and stories from the production process.
The program will feature a variety of events, including a performance of the original soundtrack by the Andong MBC Children's Choir, the first public unveiling of choreography, a screening of the work, and commemorative photo sessions. On-site, there will be mascot performances featuring Gangchi and Umchi characters, as well as the distribution of commemorative gifts such as plush toys and keyrings, which are expected to generate enthusiastic responses from fans.
Director Lee Jongsu stated, "I believe this fan meeting will serve as an opportunity to connect 'Gangchi Island' more closely with the public," adding, "We will continue our efforts to promote the value and importance of Dokdo through cultural content."
Meanwhile, Season 1 of "Gangchi Island" will air on KBS2 in early November, with a total of 13 episodes (11 minutes each). Set in a magical school on Dokdo, the series tells the story of Gangchi characters growing into guardians of the sea, and is being produced as edutainment content that delivers information about marine ecology and the environment in an easy and entertaining way.
