Over 50 people attended the event, including Hwang Soosung, President of Korea Polytechnic University; Min Byoungjoo, President of the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology; Byun Dongcheol, Director General; Hong Sungjoo, Director of the Semiconductor Academy at the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association; as well as officials from related organizations, consortium companies, and current students.
The newly established center consists of seven training rooms, including a semiconductor measurement and analysis lab and a process FAB, spanning a total area of 1,090 square meters. The curriculum goes beyond simple theory, focusing on hands-on training and experiments.
In addition, the center offers industry-academia collaboration projects and specialized extracurricular programs to provide learning opportunities centered on real-world industry experience. A key feature is its integrated practical training environment, which covers the entire semiconductor process from design to fabrication and packaging.
President Hwang stated, "The opening of the Semiconductor Integrated Education Center marks an important foundation for our university to contribute to strengthening semiconductor competitiveness. We will focus on cultivating semiconductor professionals at a global level by enhancing industry-academia cooperation and advancing our curriculum."
Korea Polytechnic University, along with Kongju National University, has been selected as a lead institution for the co-prosperity model of the Semiconductor Specialized University program. The university will operate related educational programs through 2028, focusing on training advanced talent based on industry demand.
