Jung Moonheon, Jongno District Mayor, Communicates with Residents through "Redevelopment Talk Show" On the 23rd, District Mayor Jung Moonheon answers questions related to the redevelopment project at Changsin Art Hall. Provided by Jongno District.

This talk show will take place in Changsin-dong, Sungin-dong, and Haengchon-dong, where the expedited integrated planning for residential redevelopment projects is underway. At the events held on September 23 and 24, Jongno District Mayor Jung Moonheon emphasized, “The neighborhood needs to change,” and added, “We will push forward with the redevelopment projects quickly, in a way that benefits residents more than anyone else, ensuring that no one is left out.”

The area around 23-606 Changsin-dong (about 143,000 square meters) and 629 Changsin-dong (about 92,000 square meters) was finalized for expedited integrated planning in November last year and is set to be transformed into a residential complex with up to 29 floors and 4,542 units. The plan includes a skyline design that considers the Hanyangdoseong landscape and connects pedestrian pathways to Dongdaemun and Naksan.

At 56 Sungin-dong (about 42,000 square meters), more than 70% of residents have agreed to the project, and the area was designated as a maintenance zone in December last year. The project implementation method is expected to be decided within this year, and upon completion, a modern apartment complex with up to 26 floors and 974 units will be built. In the area around 210-2 Haengchon-dong, efforts are underway to re-nominate it as a candidate site for expedited integrated planning in November this year, with plans to supply a residential complex of up to 20 floors and 1,500 units.

The talk show will continue at 7 p.m. on the 26th at Changsin Art Hall in the Jongno District Community Center, focusing on the 629 Changsin-dong area, and at 7 p.m. on the 30th at the Jongno Culture and Sports Center, with a project briefing for the 210-2 Haengchon-dong area.

District Mayor Jung Moonheon stated, “To prevent situations where once-decided redevelopment projects are delayed, I will do my utmost to move forward quickly by uniting with residents,” adding, “We will strengthen cooperation with urban planning experts, specialized lawyers for maintenance projects, and working-level staff, and spare no legal or administrative support to improve residential environments and protect residents’ property rights.”
