On September 25, Goseong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced that it has been finally selected for the 2026 National Heritage Night Tour Contest Project, organized by the National Heritage Administration, securing 100 million won in national and provincial funding.
The 2026 National Heritage Night Tour is a contest project that supports the development and operation of nighttime-specialized content and programs utilizing national heritage sites within local regions. The contest was held in July for local governments nationwide. A total of 55 projects were selected after a comprehensive evaluation of content excellence, project management systems, and potential for sustainable growth.
The 2026 Goseong County National Heritage Night Tour, themed "Night of the Heirs of Heritage," will be centered around the Songhakdong Ancient Tombs, which were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2023. The event will connect various local cultural heritages such as Goseong Ogwangdae and Goseong Nongyo, offering a diverse array of experiences including tours, hands-on activities, performances, and exhibitions. The event will be organized by the Goseong Culture and Tourism Foundation.
Choi Dawon, Head of the Department of Culture and Arts, stated, "We plan to widely promote the value of Goseong Ogwangdae and the Songhakdong Ancient Tombs, which are representative national heritage sites of the region. We will also prepare a variety of cultural experiences and programs in which both residents and tourists can participate, thereby expanding the utilization of national heritage. We expect that the implementation of the 2026 National Heritage Night Tour Contest Project will greatly contribute to the growth of the local cultural industry and the revitalization of tourism."
