Busan Veterans Office and Busan National University of Education Hold Pilot Veterans Culture Class with Prospective Teachers

Learning About the Lives of Independence Activists with AI

The Busan Regional Veterans Office and Busan National University of Education have launched a collaborative project to promote veterans culture education. As part of this initiative, prospective teachers developed and implemented instructional materials that can be used in real classroom settings.

The Busan Regional Veterans Affairs Office is conducting a pilot lesson on veterans culture education together with prospective teachers from Busan National University of Education. Provided by the Busan Regional Veterans Affairs Office

Through this partnership, the prospective teachers researched and created veterans culture education plans incorporating AI technology. On September 24, a pilot class was held at Yeogo Elementary School in Sajik-dong, Dongnae-gu.

The class was themed "80 Years of Liberation: Tracing the Footsteps of Busan’s Independence Activists through AI," and was conducted for 29 second-grade students under the topic "Let's Learn About Park Cha-jeong, the Independence Activist from Busan."

The lesson included listening to the story of Park Cha-jeong, conducting a character interview, and writing letters of gratitude.

The students engaged in open discussions about the concept of independence activists, shared their thoughts, and watched AI-generated video materials to better understand Park Cha-jeong’s life and spirit. They also actively expressed their own opinions through worksheet activities and presentations.

In an activity where students wore headbands labeled "Park Cha-jeong" and answered their classmates’ questions as if they themselves were independence activists, the students showed notable immersion and thoughtful engagement.

An official from the Busan Regional Veterans Office stated, "This pilot class provided the next generation with an opportunity to approach and understand the value of veterans affairs in a familiar way. We will continue to strengthen the foundation for veterans culture education and expand various programs in cooperation with the university of education."
