Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Donghwan Lee) announced on the 24th that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Tanhyeon Sports Center in Tanhyeon-dong, Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang City on the 23rd.

The event was attended by Donghwan Lee, mayor of Goyang Special City, as well as local politicians including National Assemblyman Younghwan Kim, Tanhyeon-dong residents, and members of the Residents' Autonomy Committee, all coming together to celebrate the launch of the Tanhyeon Sports Center.
The Tanhyeon Sports Center is designed as a multi-purpose complex with one basement floor and three above-ground floors, expanding the infrastructure for daily sports activities such as a swimming pool and indoor gymnasium, while also providing various amenities for residents.
The first floor will feature a book cafe where residents can relax and interact, offering the local community a new space that combines culture and leisure.
The second floor will house an indoor swimming pool, which is expected to significantly improve the previously insufficient sports infrastructure. By expanding facilities for daily sports activities accessible to everyone, regardless of age or gender, the center aims to contribute to the health and well-being of citizens.
The third floor will include a multi-purpose indoor gymnasium, making it possible to host a variety of ball sports and other recreational activities. This is expected to expand opportunities for local residents to participate in sports and enhance their overall quality of life.
Mayor Donghwan Lee stated, "Expectations are high for the Tanhyeon Sports Center, as it will provide both essential daily sports facilities and convenient spaces for residents in Goyang Special City. We will do our utmost to ensure the construction proceeds smoothly so that it becomes a beloved space for citizens."
