Mayor Kim Byungsoo, in response to the unprecedented torrential downpour that caused significant damage to some Gimpo residents, instructed the swift distribution of disaster relief funds and secured a total of 1.5353 billion won, including 1.01292 billion won in national and provincial funds.
Accordingly, Gimpo City made an advance payment of the first round of disaster relief funds, totaling 498 million won, to 154 households in September. The city is sequentially distributing the second round of disaster relief funds, amounting to 143.4 million won, to 79 households, and plans to provide an additional 893.9 million won in disaster relief funds.
In particular, Mayor Kim Byungsoo strongly instructed that the local government should take the lead in helping recover from damage to homes and small businesses. He ordered that, as soon as national and provincial funds are allocated, support be expanded to include 5 million won for small business owners, 3.5 million won for flooded homes, and further assistance for residents affected in the agriculture, fisheries, and forestry sectors. As a result, small business owners whose businesses suffered flooding can receive up to 10 million won, while residents whose homes were flooded can receive up to 7 million won in support.
Mayor Kim emphasized the importance of prompt execution to help stabilize citizens who faced difficulties due to this summer's heavy rains, and Gimpo City is determined to ensure that support for affected residents is completed without delay.
Mayor Kim Byungsoo stated, "All standards in Gimpo City are centered on our citizens," and added, "I hope this disaster relief fund will provide some comfort and strength to residents struggling with flood damage. As soon as the secured national and provincial funds are allocated, we will promptly distribute additional support funds."
