On October 1, Sejong City will officially launch the “Ieung Pass·Yeominjeon Integrated Card,” which combines the Ieung Pass monthly public transportation subscription and the local currency Yeominjeon. With the release of this integrated card, citizens will be able to enjoy both transportation fare refunds and local currency cashback with a single card, significantly enhancing user convenience.
The monthly public transportation subscription feature will remain the same as the existing Ieung Pass. Adults can receive refunds of up to 50,000 won per month by purchasing a 20,000 won subscription, while teenagers, seniors, and people with disabilities can use the service for free and still receive up to 50,000 won in monthly refunds.
The available modes of transportation remain unchanged, covering Sejong City’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system and city buses, as well as buses and subways in Daejeon, Cheongju, Cheonan, Gongju, and Gyeryong, and the public bicycle service Eoulling. The K-Pass can also be used in conjunction as before, and by registering the integrated card in both the Ieung Pass app and the K-Pass app, users can receive even greater transportation fare refunds.
The local currency Yeominjeon feature is also maintained. When making payments at local Yeominjeon-affiliated merchants with the integrated card, instant cashback is accrued, although usage is restricted at certain large retail chains. The integrated card can be issued by Shinhan Card, Nonghyup Card, and Hana Card, with issuance requirements differing by card company, so applicants are advised to check conditions in advance.
To apply for the integrated card, users must be registered with the Yeominjeon app. Applicants must be at least 14 years old for Shinhan and Nonghyup, and at least 19 years old for Hana. Nonghyup and Hana cards can also be issued in person at bank branches.
Even without the integrated card, the existing Ieung Pass and Yeominjeon cards can continue to be used separately. However, if users wish to obtain the integrated card from the same card company as their existing Yeominjeon card, they must cancel the existing card before applying. After the launch of the integrated card, transportation fare refunds and local currency cashback will continue to be calculated and paid separately, and both the Ieung Pass app and the Yeominjeon app will be operated independently.
To commemorate the launch of the integrated card, each card company will hold events to promote public transportation use.
During the Sejong Hangeul Festival, which will be held for three days starting October 9, each card company will select 40 citizens who use Sejong public transportation with the new integrated card and award them 50,000 Yeominjeon points. On October 24, November 28, and December 26, which are designated as Sejong Love Public Transportation Days, each card company will also select 20 users to receive 50,000 Yeominjeon points.
Lee Seungwon, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, stated, “By integrating the Ieung Pass and Yeominjeon into a single card, citizens will be able to enjoy benefits more conveniently. We will continue to develop and promote transportation and convenience policies that are closely linked to citizens’ daily lives.”
