Tailored Health Education for Children
Supporting Healthy Growth and Development
Pusan National University (President Choi Jaewon) announced on September 24 that its College of Nursing signed a work agreement with the Childcare Division of Yangsan City at Yangsan City Hall on September 23 to promote a health education linkage project for local children's centers.
This project is a program designed to support the healthy growth and development of children by providing tailored health education services to those using local children's centers. Following last year's implementation, it is being relaunched this year. In particular, the university plans to develop educational programs that meet the actual needs of children through close consultation with local children's centers in Yangsan City.
The education team, comprised of professors, graduate students, and undergraduate students from the College of Nursing at Pusan National University, will visit local children's centers in person to operate the program. The curriculum is based on the child and adolescent sub-goals of the National Health Promotion Comprehensive Plan, focusing on ▲ preventing the use of harmful substances ▲ establishing healthy lifestyle habits ▲ preventing infectious diseases ▲ and providing sex education to enhance gender sensitivity.
Hyunmi Son, Professor at the College of Nursing at Pusan National University, who oversees the project, stated, "The College of Nursing at Pusan National University provides education on health promotion and care across the entire life cycle, so we can offer high-quality health education to children in Yangsan City." She added, "This project will not only promote children's health, but also provide nursing students with opportunities to practice the values of social contribution and service."
