Mobilizing Advanced Media AI for K-Pop Production Innovation
Exporting Global Cultural Content Production Solutions
NC AI, the artificial intelligence (AI) subsidiary of NCSoft, announced on September 24 that it has been selected as the lead organization for the "2025 K-Content Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation Leading Project," a program supported by the Korea Creative Content Agency.
This project, with a total budget of 10 billion won, aims to build an ecosystem for the content industry where competitive large enterprises and small- and medium-sized enterprises collaborate in new industrial fields that combine the cultural industry with AI.
NC AI explained that its selection as the lead organization was the result of integrating its proprietary Barco large language model (LLM) with a wide range of multimodal technologies, including Barco Art Fashion, Sound, and 3D. The company has also formed the "K-Content AI Alliance" with specialized companies in each field. By collaborating with domestic content and technology firms such as Imaginas, YN Culture & Space, Studio Eon, Oasis Studio, and Monggyu, NC AI will drive innovation across the entire value chain, from planning and production to distribution.
Through this project, NC AI plans to develop innovative K-pop production formats utilizing AI technology, create virtual artist intellectual property (IP) packages, and establish a fandom-driven AI ecosystem. In particular, by adopting a one-source multi-use (OSMU) model, the company will produce integrated assets optimized for each expansion business area, such as games, merchandise, and virtual concerts, right from the content planning stage, dramatically accelerating market response times.
NC AI intends to expand the developed format as a global standard. The company will apply the same format to the historical heritage of each country to establish a business model for locally customized content production. NC AI emphasized its goal of evolving beyond a content provider to become a global technology and platform company that supplies next-generation content production technologies.
Kim Minjae, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of NC AI, stated, "We aim to go beyond simply applying AI technology to content. By combining Korea's cultural heritage with cutting-edge AI, we are taking an innovative approach to create new cultural content that resonates with people worldwide. K-Content will present a new paradigm, leading the global cultural industry."
