Yeongdeungpo District Inspects 'Singil Family Happiness Town' Construction Site

Family-Friendly Childcare Complex
Aiming for Completion in 2027

Yeongdeungpo District in Seoul, led by Mayor Choi Hogwon, announced on September 24 that it had conducted a focused inspection of safety management at the construction site of the 'Singil Family Happiness Town' near Exit 4 of Sinpung Station, at 4966 Singil-dong, on September 19.

'Singil Family Happiness Town' is Yeongdeungpo District's first family-oriented complex facility, with a total floor area of 8,266 square meters and a structure spanning from two basement levels to four floors above ground. The facility will house a district-run daycare center, an integrated childcare support center, a kids' cafe, a toy library, a Kiwoom Center, a family communication and cultural space, and a kindergarten, among other childcare and family-related amenities.

Currently, excavation work is underway, and structural construction is set to begin next month. The district is steadily moving forward with the project, aiming for completion in the second half of 2027.

Last year, Yeongdeungpo District ranked second among Seoul's autonomous districts in terms of youth population ratio and fifth in total fertility rate. Given the region's high demand for childbirth and childcare, the completion of the Family Happiness Town is expected to ease the burden of child-rearing for parents and make a significant contribution to addressing the low birthrate issue.

Additionally, within a 300-meter radius, there are Dae-yeong Elementary, Dae-yeong Middle, and Dae-yeong High Schools, the Singil Chaekmaru Cultural Center, Singil Neighborhood Park, Yeongdeungpo No. 1 Sports Center, and Singil 5-dong Community Center, creating expected synergy effects with educational, cultural, and community convenience facilities.

Mayor Choi Hogwon stated, "Singil Family Happiness Town is a core project for making Yeongdeungpo a great place to raise children. As this is an essential facility for residents, we will continue to closely monitor the site and do our utmost to ensure safety throughout the construction process."
