French President Emmanuel Macron, who was visiting New York, United States, for United Nations (UN)-related events, found himself stuck due to the motorcade of U.S. President Donald Trump.

On September 22 (local time), the French media outlet Brut shared on social media that President Macron was stranded in the middle of a New York street.

That day, after delivering a speech at the UN headquarters in New York, President Macron exited to an intersection, only to be blocked by a sudden police barricade. The barricade was reportedly set up for President Trump's motorcade.

When a police officer approached President Macron and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. President, all roads are currently closed," Macron immediately called President Trump on the spot.

Smiling, he joked to President Trump, "How are you? I'm waiting on the street right now. All the roads are blocked because of you."

The blockade was lifted a few minutes later. However, vehicles were still not allowed to pass, and only pedestrians could proceed. As a result, President Macron and his entourage walked through the streets of New York for about 30 minutes to reach the French Embassy.

Even while walking, President Macron continued his phone conversation with President Trump and took commemorative photos with citizens he met along the way.

Meanwhile, at the UN headquarters that day, President Macron chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the two-state solution for Palestine. The meeting, co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia, was convened to discuss a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution. At this meeting, the UN adopted the "New York Declaration" with the support of 142 member states.

The New York Declaration includes provisions to promote the establishment of a Palestinian state, condemn Hamas's surprise attack on Israel in 2023, and criticize Israel's attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip.
