Secured 2 Billion Won Including 400 Million Won in National Funding
Improvements in Livestock Environment and Relief of Resident Inconveniences Expected
On September 23, Muan County in South Jeolla Province announced that it has been selected for the "2026 Livestock Odor Improvement Project," organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, securing a total project budget of 2 billion won, including 400 million won in national funding.
The Livestock Odor Improvement Project supports facilities and equipment that systematically process and manage livestock manure generated by livestock farms and reduce resulting odors. The project is expected to directly contribute not only to preventing environmental pollution but also to alleviating inconveniences in residents' daily lives.
This public contest saw applications from 51 cities, counties, and districts nationwide, with the final 20 local governments selected through a first-round document review and a second-round on-site evaluation. Muan County plans to focus on improving manure processing methods, reducing odors, and revitalizing circulation between livestock and crop farming, particularly in areas with a high concentration of livestock odor.
Kim San, the county governor, stated, "Since livestock odor is a challenge faced by both farmers and residents, we will use this project selection as an opportunity to reduce conflicts and create a pleasant livestock farming environment."
Meanwhile, over the past three years, the county has invested a total of 3.2 billion won in supporting odor reduction facilities, distributing odor-reducing agents, and promoting compost maturation support projects, consistently working to help livestock farms manage odors and establish an eco-friendly livestock industry foundation.
