South Korean and U.S. Army Chiefs Discuss "Close Cooperation Including Revitalizing Joint Training"

The Army Chiefs of Staff of South Korea and the United States have agreed to work closely together, including revitalizing joint training exercises.


According to the South Korean Army on September 22, Army Chief of Staff Kim Gyooha held his first discussion with United States Army Chief of Staff General Randy A. George. This meeting was held at the Army level between the two countries to reaffirm the strength of the South Korea-U.S. alliance and to enhance friendship and cooperation through increased exchanges.

During the meeting, both chiefs agreed that the South Korea-U.S. alliance has evolved into a key pillar of peace and stability not only on the Korean Peninsula but also in the broader region, and expressed hope for its development into a mutually beneficial and future-oriented alliance. They also discussed expanding high-level exchanges such as South Korea-U.S. Army meetings and Army Chiefs of Staff discussions, as well as measures to strengthen interoperability through the expansion of South Korea-U.S. joint training exercises.


Chief Kim stated, "To overcome current challenges and prepare for the future, we will maintain and expand a close cooperation system with the United States Army, including revitalizing joint training exercises and sharing visions in the field of military innovation." General George highly praised the role of the Republic of Korea Army in promoting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the region, and emphasized the importance of exchange and cooperation between the two armies to prepare for the future.
