This training was designed to help participants recognize mental health issues and warning signs of suicide early in daily life, and to enable them to respond quickly and appropriately in crisis situations.
The training was led by a suicide prevention specialist and focused on helping elderly participants understand through real-life case studies: recognizing high-risk suicide warning signs among seniors, methods for responding to crisis situations, and how to utilize and connect with the suicide prevention counseling hotline (109).
County Governor Nam Han-gwon stated, "We organized this training to ensure that both senior welfare workers and elderly residents can become key agents in spreading a culture that values life," adding, "We will continue to actively promote a variety of initiatives to protect the lives and mental health of our residents."
The Ulleung County Mental Health Welfare Center provides customized suicide prevention education tailored to different life stages.
