Repainting Worn and Faded Lane Markings
The Jinhae District Office of Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province plans to complete the repainting of worn and faded lane markings and crosswalks in the area around the hinterland of the New Port in Yongwon-dong before Chuseok, the traditional Korean holiday.
The New Port area in Jinhae District serves as a logistics hub behind the port, where large freight trucks frequently travel and which is also closely connected to residents' daily lives. Due to the frequent passage of logistics vehicles, the lane markings have become worn and damaged, significantly reducing their visibility and increasing the risk of accidents. As a result, a comprehensive high-visibility lane repainting project is being carried out throughout the New Port area.
The project covers the following sections: Malmu Bridge to New Port Dong-ro, New Port Buk-ro (from Gyeonma Bridge to Nae Truck House), New Port 2-ro, 3-ro, and 4-ro, as well as the back road of New Port Moram Park. The project is being implemented with a reallocated budget of 254 million won from the 2025 traffic safety facility installation support program for high-visibility lane repainting.
Once the high-visibility lane repainting work is completed, clearer lane distinctions will make it easier to identify lanes, which will be effective in preventing safety accidents such as collisions. Improved traffic flow is also expected to contribute to the stable transportation of port logistics and the revitalization of the local economy.
Jung Hyunseop, head of the Jinhae District Office, stated, "With the high volume of large vehicles passing through the New Port area, the lane markings are in a severely worn condition. This high-visibility lane repainting project will greatly enhance visibility and contribute significantly to preventing traffic accidents. I also urge special attention to the safety of the workers involved in the project."
