A New Beginning for a Clean and Beautiful Hapcheon
Pledged Through Community Participation
Hapcheon County in Gyeongsangnam-do announced on September 23 that it successfully held the "Beautiful Gyeongnam, Republic of Korea Renovation" campaign in the Samga Market area, in line with the government's "Republic of Korea Renovation" initiative.
This event was held with a special significance of "regional resurgence, starting anew in a clean environment," focusing on Samga Market, which suffered flood damage during the heavy rains in July.

The event was attended by over 150 people, including key figures such as County Governor Kim Yuncheol, Gyeongsangnam-do Vice Governor for Economic Affairs Kim Myeongju, Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office Director Seo Heungwon, as well as local social organizations, volunteer groups, and residents. The program included a pledge performance to commit to the "Beautiful Gyeongnam, Republic of Korea Renovation," environmental cleanup of Samga Market, nearby streams, and roadsides, and a campaign to prevent illegal dumping.
During the pledge performance, key officials and resident representatives jointly declared their commitment to reducing unnecessary waste and practicing a culture of resource circulation in daily life. The subsequent cleanup activities focused on collecting agricultural waste and household garbage around the market, while simultaneously promoting the "Cleaning My Neighborhood Myself" initiative, which is carried out in each town and township during the intensive cleaning week.
County Governor Kim Yuncheol stated, "Although Samga Market suffered significant damage from the heavy rains this summer, today we were able to reaffirm our determination to restore the local economy and revitalize the community by working together with residents and institutions to clean up the environment. Hapcheon County will continue to do its utmost to create a clean living environment and promote a culture of resource circulation."
Meanwhile, Hapcheon County plans to use this campaign as an opportunity to continue environmental cleanup activities in each town and township, expand resident-participation cleanliness initiatives, and promote a clean and pleasant image of Hapcheon nationwide.
